Mu Phi Epsilon Fraternity
Mu Phi Epsilon was founded at the Metropolitan College of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 13, 1903 by Professor Winthrop S. Sterling, Dean of the College, and Elizabeth Mathias. Although it was originally founded to provide a music sorority for women that would be similar to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Mu Phi Epsilon has since evolved into a co-ed professional music fraternity for men and women. Today MPE has 128 collegiate chapters, 74 alumni chapters and more than 75,000 members in the United States and internationally. MPE is dedicated to the advancement of music, promotion of scholarship and musicianship of its members, and service to the community.
