TMEA Madness
There were so many Baylor professors that presented sessions including: Dr. Alexander, Dr. Gavin, Mr. Rudd, Dr. Shoemaker, Dr. Arnone, Dr. Wilson, Mr. Heyde, Dr. Raines, Mr. Phillips, and Mr. Powers, as well as a few sessions led by Baylor Students Nate Hutcherson (President of CTME), Ren Robertson (VP of CTME), Sean Kime, and Trevor Rybicki. Needless to say, Baylor was wonderfully represented at TMEA this year!! I went to many of these sessions and was pleased to see many Baylor Alumni, current students, and professors present at every single one. The love and support we have for each other in the School of Music is absolutely wonderful! I had the privilege to play in a small group for Dr. Alexander’s session. It was a lot of fun and not at all stressful (for me)! I watched as a high school orchestra director, who had borrowed a violin and bow from a vendor so he could play as well, began to rosin the borrowed bow. It snapped in half within a second! It was ridiculous! I was not the only Mu Phi to play for a session; Allison Jayroe played beautifully in Dr. Arnone’s session!
At the Baylor Reception on Friday night we were able to visit and talk with Mu Phi alums! I met a member of my own family, Rachelle Dojs-Isaacson—my (get ready...) Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandbig. She is bringing new life to the Red & Black family and will have her baby this year! It was nice for all of us to see Michal Nelson-Taylor at the reception! Her bubbly personality can cheer anyone up and our whole chapter definitely misses her! There were more Mu Phis present, but some left as it got later into the night. Regardless, we took a Mu Phi picture at the Reception!
We had Mu Phi’s Skate-A-Date on February 22nd! We dressed in 50s wear and were able to invite guys and girls! Kim by FAR won the award for best dressed! It was awesome to hang out with everyone! We should skate more often—well, not me because I was awful at it! | TMEA was really fun and I was glad I went. Especially since my recital was the next weekend! Fellow Mu Phis Bethany and Allison played in my recital! They’re so sweet! Our Beau, Bryce was my stage manager guy! It was really awesome! Kim made the lace part of my recital dress and added tulle to the bottom for extra poof! My recital was definitely a Mu Phi group effort!! I played a lot of music that I love and even did an Irish Jig while playing! After weeks of stress, I am SO relieved it is over!!!!!! |
