Graduation Year: May 2007
Major: Music Education
Instrument: Clarinet
Mu Phi Pledge Class & Family: Spring 2004, M&M family
Years in BUGWB: 4
Favorite BUGWB memory: Conducting as the exhibition band at the State Marching Contest, and when Inflato Bear fell over in the wind and Rachelle couldn't stop laughing
Favorite BUGWB trip or game: When we beat A&M in double (or triple) overtime 35-34. An old high school friend of mine played for A&M that year. I was drum major and I definitely ran out on to the field with everyone else to celebrate!
Did you have a favorite halftime show?: The Queen show where Jaycie and I wrote the drill. The drill was pretty terrible, but it was neat to see what we had written being performed for a big crowd!
Which season were you drum major?: Fall of 2005
Who were you drum major with?: Jaycie Devane (Mu Phi Epsilon, M&M family)
Favorite part about being a drum major: Conducting the band in the stands for a quarter and calling up whatever I wanted to play. It was always fun to do 3rd quarter jumps and 4th quarter yells when the opposing team was right in front of us trying to score.
What are you doing now?: I teach high school band at North Mesquite High School in Mesquite, TX. This is my 6th year to teach there and I love it!
Graduation Year: 2008
Major: Music Education
Instrument: Trumpet
Mu Phi Pledge Class & Family: Spring 2004, Red and Black family
Years in BUGWB: 5
Favorite BUGWB memory: I have several, but it’s a tie between 2. The day we beat A&M for the first time in years by 1 point in over time. The band was going wild with excitement and the fans torn down the goal posts, parading them down I35! The 2nd is the first time I walked in to the stadium at game time before pregame. Wow!
Favorite BUGWB trip or game: The away game to UT Austin when I was DM. It was so intense.
Favorite BUGWB tradition: Brave heart run on. AWESOME!
Did you have a favorite halftime show?: Our Spanish show. The drill was really tough and music was very trumpety!
Which season were you drum major?: Fall 2006
Who were you drum major with?: Katie Ferguson Murray (Mu Phi Epsilon, Red and Black family) and Leann Kincaid Nichols
What are you doing now?: I am married to my high school sweetheart and a mommy to a 2.5 year old. I am in my 5th year of band directing in the Houston area. I taught in Stafford for 4 years, and I just started working at Cinco Ranch JH in Katy. I truly believe I have the greatest jobs in the world, Mommy and Band Director!
